The November 2026 Grok AI statistics report: 65 sourced figures

A phone on a desk showing a grid of app icons, one highlighted, with a faint rising line behind it.

This month's report on Grok brings together dated, sourced figures: users and subscribers, market share, SpaceX's AI segment (revenue, EBITDA, capex and compute), and Grok models, API prices and the Cursor deal. It sits inside our AI statistics report. Every figure is printed as its source states it, with the source's date and the sample or method beside it. Company statements from SpaceX's filings, releases and calls are kept apart from measurement firms' estimates and from figures a news outlet reported. Figures we could not trace to a primary are named near the end and left out of the tables. Each table row gives the figure, the source and its date, the sample or method, and the day we checked it.

The headline Grok figures

The ten headline Grok figures, newest source first.

  • IPO "net proceeds of $85,675 million" in June 2026: SpaceX 10-Q for the quarter to 30 Jun 2026; company statement.
  • Grok among the assistants with "less than 5% market share" at the end of May 2026: TechCrunch reporting Sensor Tower, 16 Jun 2026; reported.
  • "approximately 117 million" monthly active users "that used Grok's AI features" at 31 Mar 2026: SpaceX final prospectus (424(b)(4)), June 2026; company statement.

Grok users and subscribers

SpaceX's final prospectus of June 2026 counts approximately 117 million monthly active users of Grok's AI features at 31 Mar 2026, inside approximately 550 million monthly active users across Grok and X together. These company statements are the newest user counts in any filing we read.

A large circle of people with a smaller group inside it highlighted in orange.

Monthly active users, from the filings

SpaceX's final prospectus of June 2026 dates each user count to 31 Dec 2025 and 31 Mar 2026, and defines a monthly active user as someone who interacted with Grok or X "at least once during the 30-day period ending on the date of measurement", while cautioning that the method "may not fully capture all instances of duplication". An SEC staff letter of 29 May 2026 restates the pair as "117 million of your 550 million MAUs had used Grok's AI features", so the 117 million is a subset, not an addition; the prospectus's approximately 1.3 billion "supported accounts" covers "a human, bot or similar account", so it is not a count of people.

SpaceX's final prospectus states approximately 6.3 million active paid subscribers at 31 Mar 2026, split between approximately 4.4 million on X Premium Basic, X Premium and Premium+ and approximately 1.9 million on SuperGrok, SuperGrok Heavy and SuperGrok Lite; at 31 Dec 2025 the total was approximately 4.9 million. The December tier list names SuperGrok and SuperGrok Heavy; the March list adds SuperGrok Lite.

Grok Bot and enterprise customers

SpaceX's own figure is 800,000 paid weekly users of Grok Bot earlier in October 2026, stated by Gwynne Shotwell, President and COO, on the Q3 2026 earnings call. Separately, Bloomberg reported 418,000 Grok Bot users at 14 Sep 2026, from a presentation its reporters saw, up 24% on the week before. The two figures carry different definitions, so we print them in separate sentences with no growth rate between them.

On the same call, Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, said: "So on the Grok bot side, we're seeing the fastest growth of a product that I've ever seen in my life for Grok bot."

Shotwell also said Grok Enterprise customers with more than $1 million in run rate revenue, including Cursor, were up 50% quarter on quarter on a pro forma basis.

Grok market share

Grok held 2.3% of gen AI website traffic in Sep 2026, fifth of seven chatbots in Similarweb's 12 Oct 2026 post, a measurement firm's estimate. Each firm measures something different: website traffic, website referrals, app and web users, DNS traffic, business spend. We print each figure with its measure. This page is part of our monthly AI statistics for ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Grok.

Share of gen AI website traffic (Similarweb)

As of Similarweb's 12 Oct 2026 post, Grok's share of gen AI website traffic was 2.3% in Sep 2026, down from 3.2% in Apr 2026; the same post puts ChatGPT at 56.4% (see our ChatGPT statistics page) and Claude at 9.6% (see Claude AI statistics). Similarweb revises recent months between posts, so every figure here is as of that post.

Referrals, app users and DNS rank (Statcounter, Sensor Tower, Cloudflare)

Statcounter's AI chatbot referral data does not include Grok at all. In Statcounter's words, Grok "does not provide referral data in its header", so visits from Grok cannot be attributed in referral-based reports. That matters for anyone doing generative engine optimisation for link building. Statcounter's Sep 2026 chart lists six chatbots without Grok; Perplexity is third at 5.84% (see Perplexity AI statistics).

Sensor Tower, as reported by TechCrunch, puts Grok among the assistants with less than 5% market share at the end of May 2026. Sensor Tower's True Audience measures unique users across mobile app and web. Ivan Mehta, reporter at TechCrunch, wrote on 16 Jun 2026: "Until January, ChatGPT commanded over 50% market share, but by May’s end, it had fallen to 46.4% thanks to the rise of Gemini (27.7%) and Claude (10.3%)."

Cloudflare Radar's 2025 year in review has Grok entering the top 20 generative AI services in mid-February 2025, reaching #9 by the end of that month and peaking at #6 on several weekends in October and November.

Grok in business spend (Ramp)

Ramp's AI Index shows 4.1% of businesses on Ramp paying for xAI in Sep 2026, against 55.9% paying for any AI. The sample is transaction data from more than 85,000 firms on Ramp, and Ramp itself says its results likely underestimate adoption because many businesses use free AI tools.

SpaceX's AI segment: revenue, EBITDA, capex and compute

SpaceX's Q3 2026 earnings release reports revenue of $7,560 million and adjusted EBITDA of $4,953 million for the SI segment (formerly the AI segment), SpaceX's home for Grok, in the quarter to 30 Sep 2026, with 1.7 GW of nameplate compute. All three figures are company statements. The segment figure covers advertising plus Grok, Cursor and X subscriptions, data licensing, Grok API access and cloud services; no filing we read reports Grok revenue alone.

Rows of server racks in a large data hall lit along the aisle.

Revenue and profit

SpaceX's Q3 2026 earnings release splits the quarter's SI revenue into SI solutions and infrastructure ($7,022 million) and advertising ($538 million), and its adjusted EBITDA adds back $1,217 million of share-based compensation related to the Cursor acquisition. Against Q3 2025, SpaceX credits the rise to cloud services and additional contracts, $608 million from Cursor, and higher Grok and X subscription revenue.

Capex, compute and the GPU lease

SpaceX's Q3 2026 earnings release puts SI capex at $16,444 million for the quarter and nameplate compute at 1.7 GW at 30 Sep 2026. SpaceX calculates nameplate compute as installed GPUs multiplied by their all-in power draw, and states that it reflects installed capacity, not actual power consumption or utilisation.

Guidance: Bret Johnsen, CFO, gave Q4 2026 capex guidance of $35 billion to $40 billion on the Q3 call. On year-end compute, the Q2 call of 4 Aug 2026 gave "over two gigawatts"; on the Q3 call Elon Musk, CEO, gave a target of "maybe 2.5 to 3 gigawatts". Elon Musk on X, 25 Sep 2026, posted that another 220k GB300 would be fully operational the next week and another 220k in November.

On 26 Oct 2026 SpaceX announced a binding commitment for an approximately $40 billion master finance lease for GPUs and related equipment with an entity managed by Apollo Global Management, with closing expected before the end of 2026. In that release, Bret Johnsen, CFO of SpaceX, said: "we’re seeing less than one year payback periods on our SI infrastructure investments." That is management's statement, not an audited metric.

Customers, contracts and the IPO

The Q2 2026 earnings release states $14.1 billion of cloud services agreements in contracted sales, which produced $1.6 billion of incremental AI infrastructure revenue in Q2 2026. The final prospectus states that Anthropic has agreed to pay $1.25 billion per month through May 2029, with capacity ramping in May and June 2026 at a reduced fee. Separately, the Q2 10-Q discloses a Customer B, an AI-segment customer, at 19.5% of all SpaceX revenue in Q2 2026 and 12.2% in the first half. No document we read ties Customer B to the Anthropic contract.

On the IPO, the Q2 2026 10-Q states net proceeds of $85,675 million including the full over-allotment option; as priced, the final prospectus put net proceeds at approximately $74.4 billion before the option. The Q3 2026 10-Q states backlog totalled $62,959 million at 30 Sep 2026, a company-wide figure across all segments. On the Q3 2026 earnings call, Elon Musk, CEO, gave a projection, not a result: annual recurring revenue of "somewhere between $500 billion and $1 trillion" by the end of 2027.

How we check these figures

We open every figure at its source: the SEC filing, the earnings release, the call transcript, the company's docs or the measurement firm's own post. Each figure carries the source's date and, beside it, the sample or method that produced it. We keep SpaceX's own statements apart from measurement firms' estimates and from figures a news outlet reported, and we say which is which. Figures we could not trace to a primary are left out of the tables and named here, without their numbers: grok.com monthly visit counts credited to Similarweb by a roundup; a SpaceX market valuation; and a dollar sum credited to Grok Bot's first week. We republish this report every month with the month in the title, re-opening each source.
