The November 2026 Google Gemini statistics report: 86 sourced figures

Hands holding a smartphone with a grid of app icons on a desk by a window.

This is our monthly report on Google Gemini, part of our AI statistics report. It covers app users, Gemini in Google Search, market share, developers and businesses, Google Cloud revenue and spend, and models and prices. Every figure is printed as its source states it, with the date and the sample or method beside it. Alphabet's and Google's own statements are kept apart from the measurement firms' estimates and from figures a news outlet reported, and each table says which is which. Figures we could not trace to a primary source are named in the method section and left out of the tables. Each table gives the figure, the source and date, the sample or method, and the day we checked it.

Google Gemini in numbers

Alphabet's own latest figures measure Gemini three ways: the people using the Gemini app, the tokens its model APIs process each minute (nearly 32 billion, the company says), and Google Cloud revenue. Each measure has its own name, and no two count the same thing. The figures below run newest first; each one appears again in its section table with its date.

How many people use Gemini

The Gemini app is at one billion users, as Alphabet's chief executive put it in the company's Q3 2026 earnings remarks on 28 October 2026. The climb from the 400 million monthly active users Google reported at I/O 2025 sits in the series below. Every point is a company statement, apart from one point that Ars Technica reported from the company's own announcement, and the table marks it.

What counts as a Gemini user

The one-billion count covers people who open the Gemini app or the Gemini web interface to enter a prompt or use Gemini Live, in Ars Technica's reading of the figure. As Ryan Whitwam, senior technology reporter, put it in Ars Technica: "Pichai is talking only about people who are opening the Gemini app or visiting the Gemini web interface to enter a prompt or access Gemini Live."

The same report notes that the app count is separate from AI Overviews and AI Mode in Search. We treat the three reach figures as separate measures throughout this report.

How people use the app, and paid plans

Ars Technica reported, from Josh Woodward (Google's VP overseeing Gemini), that more than 100 million of the app's monthly users are on iOS and that 63% of active users use voice input. Google's own statements add image and video figures. Paid subscriptions across Google's consumer services, driven by YouTube and Google One, have reached 350 million; that figure is not Gemini only.

The usage and subscription figures are below, with reported figures and company statements marked.

Gemini in Google Search: AI Overviews and AI Mode

Google's I/O 2026 keynote on 19 May 2026 says AI Overviews has over 2.5 billion monthly active users, and its Q2 2026 earnings remarks on 22 July 2026 say AI Mode has surpassed 1 billion monthly active users. Each figure carries its own metric name, and the two measure different features of Google Search.

How many people use AI Overviews and AI Mode

Our guide to how a search engine works covers the steps before these features. Google's reach figures for those features are company statements, each with its own metric. The I/O 2026 keynote on 19 May 2026 put AI Overviews at over 2.5 billion monthly active users. Google's Q2 2026 earnings remarks on 22 July 2026 say AI Mode has surpassed 1 billion monthly active users; an earlier statement put it at over 100 million monthly active users in the United States and India. Google's Q3 2025 earnings remarks on 29 October 2025 also gave a daily figure for AI Mode, over 75 million daily active users, which is a different metric from the monthly one. The company's I/O 2026 announcements post of 20 May 2026 says AI Mode queries are "more than doubling every quarter since launch". What these features mean for the unpaid results below them is covered in organic SEO explained.

How people search in AI Mode

Google's Q3 2026 earnings remarks on 28 October 2026 say queries in AI Mode are on average three times longer than traditional searches, and that one in five AI Mode searches globally use voice, images or documents. The same Q3 2026 earnings remarks of 28 October 2026 say visual searches have crossed over 50 billion per month. Alphabet's Q3 2026 earnings release of 28 October 2026 says year-on-year Search query growth was the highest it has been in the last five years. Google's I/O 2026 announcements post of 20 May 2026 also describes AI Overviews and AI Mode as being brought "into one" Search experience.

Clicks, ads and crawling

Google has described the clicks it sends to websites in two statements, in different words and with no number either time. The earlier one credits "Search and its AI experiences" with "billions of clicks to sites every day"; the later one says "every week through AI features". We print each in its own words in the table and do not set one against the other. On Alphabet's latest earnings call, the company said click-through rates are already similar between sponsored and organic product list items within AI Mode.

Cloudflare measures a crawl-to-refer ratio, which tracks "how often a given AI or search platform sends traffic to a site relative to how often it crawls that site". Cloudflare's 2025 Year in Review shows Google's ratio starting the year just over 3:1 and rising through April to as high as 30:1. Readers asking how to appear in answers from engines like these can read our guide to generative engine optimisation and link building.

The Search figures for both features, the two clicks statements, the advertising statement and the crawler ratio are below.

Gemini market share: three firms, three measures

Gemini's share depends on what is counted. Similarweb counts website traffic. Statcounter counts referrals from AI chatbots to the websites that run its code. Sensor Tower counts time spent in apps. The three give three different answers, and each is printed with its firm and its method. The cross-platform tables in our AI statistics report gather the same firms' figures for the other chatbots.

Website traffic (Similarweb)

Similarweb's data, reported by Quartz, put Gemini at a 25.0% slice of all chatbot web traffic, down from 26.7% in April. On Similarweb's own AI search statistics page, the firm says Gemini "now holds roughly a quarter of worldwide AI web traffic". The visit counts are estimates: Quartz notes they derive from Similarweb's published shares, scaled from a visit total the firm released for one chatbot. Similarweb also cautions that its chart covers website traffic, and that the fastest movers on US iOS and Android barely register in it. The same firm's series for Google's rival sits in our ChatGPT statistics report.

Referrals to websites (Statcounter)

Statcounter puts Google Gemini at 10.94% of AI chatbot referrals worldwide, in second place, and the climb is in the series below. The UK figure and its earliest point are in the figures table at the end of this section. Statcounter's sample is over 3 billion page views per month across over 1 million websites, and Grok is outside its data because Grok does not provide referral data in its header. Aodhan Cullen, CEO of Statcounter, said in the firm's press release: "Gemini's growth has been the most consistent story in this data over the past year". The same firm's figures for another referral rival are in our Perplexity AI statistics report.

App time (Sensor Tower)

Sensor Tower says ChatGPT, DeepSeek and Google Gemini accounted for nearly 90% of total time spent across AI assistant apps in the quarter it measured. The firm also says ChatGPT's true-audience share fell below 50% for the first time as rivals such as Google Gemini and Claude gained traction. Our Claude AI statistics report tracks the third name in that sentence.

Gemini for developers and businesses

Google's Q3 2026 earnings remarks on 28 October 2026 say its first-party model APIs are now processing nearly 32 billion tokens per minute, more than four times what they processed a year earlier. The series below shows each step the company has announced.

Developers, customers and seats

Google says more than 9 million developers are building each month with its models across its APIs and key developer products. An earlier company figure counted developers who had built with the models in total; that is a different measure, and we do not set the two beside each other. Google says nearly 500 Cloud customers each processed more than 1 trillion tokens in a year; an earlier statement gave nearly 150 at approximately 1 trillion. Thomas Kurian told Alphabet's latest earnings call that nearly 90% of the Fortune 100 use Gemini Enterprise. Google has also reported more than 8 million paid Gemini Enterprise seats across more than 2,800 companies, and a 78% cut in Gemini serving unit costs over 2025.

Google Cloud revenue and AI spending

Google Cloud revenue rose 103% to $30.7 billion in Alphabet's Q3 2026 earnings release of 28 October 2026, and the six-quarter run is in the series below. The release notes that TPU system sales were also a meaningful contributor to revenue growth, so Cloud growth is not a pure read on Gemini.

Cloud revenue and backlog

The revenue series is as filed in Alphabet's earnings releases, with operating income beside it. CFO Anat Ashkenazi put Cloud operating income at $11.1 billion, more than tripling year on year, with operating margin up from 23.7% to 36.2%. Ashkenazi put the Cloud backlog at $561 billion, and said the company expects to recognise just over 55% of it as revenue over the next 24 months.

FAQ

How many people use Google Gemini?

Alphabet's chief executive said in the company's Q3 2026 earnings remarks on 28 October 2026 that the Gemini app is now at one billion users. The count covers people who open the Gemini app or the Gemini web interface to enter a prompt or use Gemini Live, in Ars Technica's reading of the figure. It is separate from the user figures for AI Overviews and AI Mode in Search.

What is Gemini's market share?

There are three answers because three firms count different things. Similarweb's website traffic data, reported by Quartz on 26 October 2026, gives Gemini a 25.0% slice of chatbot web traffic for September 2026. Statcounter, which counts referrals from AI chatbots to websites, puts Gemini at 10.94% for September 2026. Sensor Tower's State of AI 2026, reported by TechCrunch on 16 June 2026, put Gemini's share at 27.7% at the end of May 2026; the same report says ChatGPT, DeepSeek and Google Gemini together accounted for nearly 90% of total time spent across AI assistant apps in Q1 2026.

How many people use AI Mode?

Google's Q2 2026 earnings remarks on 22 July 2026 say AI Mode has surpassed 1 billion monthly active users, and the I/O 2026 keynote on 19 May 2026 says AI Overviews has over 2.5 billion monthly active users. Each is a separate measure of a different Search feature.

How much does Gemini cost?

For consumers, Google One's US plans page lists Google AI Pro at $19.99 a month, with AI Ultra plans above it. For developers, Google's announcement of 13 October 2026 prices Gemini 4 Argon per million tokens: $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens during the introductory period, rising to $4 and $20 when that period ends.

How much does Google Cloud earn?

Google Cloud revenue rose 103% to $30.7 billion in Alphabet's Q3 2026 earnings release of 28 October 2026. The release notes that TPU system sales contributed to that growth, so the figure is not a pure read on Gemini.

What is the newest Gemini model?

Gemini 4 Argon, generally available since Google's announcement of 13 October 2026, is the newest generally available model, offered through the API. Google announced Carbon in its Q3 2026 earnings remarks on 28 October 2026, with access rolling out first to a subset of trusted cyber defenders before wider access.

How we check these figures

We open every figure at its source and copy the sentence as the source prints it. Each row carries the date of the figure and the sample or method it rests on, beside the number. We label each figure as a company statement, a measurement firm's figure or estimate, or a figure a news outlet reported, and we keep the three apart. Some figures seen on statistics roundups are left out: visit-duration and country figures that were not on a page we could open, and model release dates and plan prices that no Google page we opened confirmed. We republish this report each month with the month in the title and recheck every source.
